Abstract

Year Two Update: Transmission Modernization Demonstration (TMD) and Distribution Modernization Demonstration (DMD)

Adoption of new technology and approaches for grid integration continues to fuel the necessity of the TMD Initiative. Our participants know that the holistic approach employed in TMD—the approach that develops clear and comprehensive data analytics strategy, roadmaps and business models—is necessary to identify and implement solutions that will create the most value and justify continued investment by industry stakeholders in data analytics capabilities.

Data and associated insights are the new enablers for the smart grid. The utility industry is in the midst of an evolution toward data-driven decisions and EPRI’s DMD initiative focuses on distribution specific applications, support infrastructure and demonstrations of data related innovation around the world.
