The Central and Eastern U.S. Seismic Source Characterization for Nuclear Facilities (CEUS SSC) Workshop on Key Issues and Available Data was the first in a series of workshops jointly sponsored by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Advanced Nuclear Technology (ANT) Program, the U.S. DOE, and the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission in support of the CEUS SSC Project. The objective of the CEUS SSC is to develop a comprehensive and up-to-date SSC for a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) that is appropriate for use at any site in the CEUS. The goals of this workshop were to introduce the various participants in the project to the goals, expectations, and schedule for the CEUS SSC project; to review the Senior Seismic Hazard Analysis Committee (SSHAC) Level 3 methodology to be used for the project; to identify the key issues that need to be addressed in the course of the SSC; to review the available data, including data quality; and to identify the path forward for the project.
