Abstract
A long-term electric dredging project by Manson Construction is currently underway at the Port of Long Beach. Both the Port of Long Beach and Manson have agreed to allow the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to collect data, including electrical usage, related to this project.

The objective of this work is to analyze emissions reductions, energy use and power quality of an electric dredge through equipment demonstration at the Port of Long Beach, California. An operational analysis of the electric dredge as compared to a comparable diesel dredge will also be included to identify a broad view of the differences between diesel and electric dredging.
