Palo Alto, Calif. (Aug. 26, 2013) – The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) announced today the appointment of Anda A. Ray as vice president, Environment and Chief Sustainability Officer, effective Sept. 9. Ray comes to EPRI from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where she most recently served as senior vice president of Engineering, Environment and Support Services.
In her new role, Ray will lead EPRI’s research sector that addresses environmental and health impacts from the generation, delivery and use of electricity, answering the fundamental scientific questions about impacts on air, land and water. The sector also conducts technology research projects to reduce the cost and improve the economic and environmental performance of renewable energy resources.
At TVA, Ray’s executive-level responsibilities have included several areas of environmental research, stewardship and policy. She also has experience in utility performance and analysis, power supply planning and performance initiatives. In addition, other management experience includes stints in nuclear power operations, generation technologies and business strategies.
Ray has been actively engaged with EPRI for more than 20 years and has served on a number of advisory committees. She was a member of the Generation Sector Advisory Council and previously served on the Research Advisory Committee, which provides strategic guidance to the institute’s research portfolio.
