2016 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

EPRI completed a full corporate social responsibility assessment in 2015 culminating in release of its first Corporate Social Responsibility report. The report (and companion video) provides a comprehensive look at EPRI's social responsibility culture and actions around four focus areas: community, employees, operations, and research.

Governance

Complex issues require leadership that employs high standards of honesty and integrity. EPRI’s Board, Officers and employees are committed to sound principles of corporate governance that continue to support our public benefit mission.

To help facilitate the development of our work, we rely on a comprehensive advisory structure. Our portfolio of research programs is defined and guided by advisors from both industry and public stakeholders. More than 1,400 leaders and technical experts from the electricity sector, academia and government help EPRI develop and conduct its research, deliver results, and provide for technology transfer and the application of research findings.

 
Board of Directors

Represents public and industry interests in guiding and directing research activities; authorizes our overall business strategies; oversees our financial planning and controls, corporate compliance and governance.

Advisory Council

Represents regulatory, academic, environmental, and scientific organizations, finance and business sectors, and other stakeholders to advise our management and the Board on trends in political, economic and social issues that affect electric utilities; assists with prioritizing research and ensuring its relevance and balance in serving the public interest.

Research Advisory Committee

Advises on key aspects of research, development and demonstration programs; provides guidance on policies and issues that impact the power industry; helps integrate EPRI's sectors and programs into a coherent strategy; provides strategic links between sector councils and the Board; champions university, national laboratory and federal outreach initiatives aimed at increasing industry collaboration.

Technology Management Committee

Comprised of advisors from EPRI's member companies, known as Managers of EPRI Technology Transfer (METT); facilitates the business aspects of METTs' respective company engagements in EPRI while ensuring that EPRI results are applied; refines EPRI's technology transfer process and establishes member resources and tools necessary to plan, produce, capture and communicate the value of an EPRI investment; and provides forums for knowledge sharing of best practices for technology management.

Sector Councils

Comprised of executives from member companies; shape and prioritize collaborative research programs that address both current and emerging issues in four key sectors: Nuclear, Fossil Generation, Environment and Renewable Energy, and Power Delivery and Utilization.

Program Committees

Work with us within each research program to define scope, assess priorities, and determine the best mechanisms to deliver the results of our work. Each member company that invests in a research program is entitled to appoint committee members to represent it within that program.
